In 2022, COP26 commitments triggered a landmark merger between a globally recognised financial reporting standards body and a leading sustainability standards organisation. The result was a new international board with a bold global mission, and two very different cultures inside the same organisation.
Two distinct legacies and organisational identities. 580+ employees. One new mission. Without a priority focus on culture high performance, competing identities and ways of working risked eroding the merger’s promise and the organisation’s credibility and impact.
The goal was a unified One Foundation culture that could align and drive a diverse, globally distributed workforce, and give the organisation performance levers to deliver on an ambitious external mandate.
We started with our Lumin Culture Diagnostic: a detailed survey and workshop programme across the merged organisation.
We identified, evidenced, and mapped culture strengths, surfaced sub-cultures, and codified what was holding the organisation back from owning it’s One Foundation culture.
With over 60% of the global workforce contributing to and validating the work, we co-created a Culture Blueprint: refreshed values, new data-built behaviours, and a culture ambition narrative built to resonate across the legacy organisations. A 24-month Culture Roadmap then set out exactly how to bring the target culture to life across teams, through leadership, and within the Board teams, worldwide.
We supported the organisation to activate a Culture Leaders network and delivered a ‘Leading with Impact’ workshop series for senior leaders. An accompanying Manager Enablement programme was also designed, to support the workforce to live and breathe the target culture.
“Culture is now part of our general dialogue, which speaks for itself.”
